Availability of nutrients and potentially toxic elements in hyssop plants grown in sandy soil with mineral and organic fertilization Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Gonçalves Jr., Affonso Celso; Carvalho, Endrigo Antônio de; Coelho, Gustavo Ferreira; Schwantes, Daniel; Nacke, Herbert; Moraes, Alice Jacobus de.
The technologies developed for agricultural production in recent years have faced constant pressure between the increase of production with a sustainable development. Co-products such as swine waste are generally used for soils fertilization. The use of this waste has presented great acceptance by farmers, being used mainly in crops and pastures. However, the inappropriate use of those wastes, results in toxicity for the plant. Nowadays, the scientific study with medicinal plants present itself in constant growth, once that the population demonstrates a tendency for natural or herbal treatments. Consequently, the market for medicinal plants tends to improve their production technologies, looking for higher productions, with high quality and sustainability....

Ecosystems and its impacts on environment changes Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Brand, Fabiane Cristina; Meneghel, Ana Paula; Nava, Ivair André; Gonçalves Jr., Affonso Celso.
In the XXI century we find the need to reconcile technological advances and maintain the cultural bases, generate employment and income, that inclusion of people in conditions of social vulnerability, and minimize environmental impact with the growing waste generation and create conditions for an effective sustainable environment. The relationship between humans and the ecosystem is critical when it seeks an ecologically balanced process. With the search for progress towards a sustainable society, we encounter many obstacles due to limited awareness, about the implications of the current development model. Thus, it is important to know the major ecosystems that interact with human activity, to understand the negative impacts and thus perform management...

Evaluation of sustainability indicatos of organic horticulture in western Paraná Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Toledo, Márcia Vargas; Regelmeier, Fábio Alexandre; Kashiwaqui, Marcos Massuo; Wendt Barbosa, Paulo Ricardo; Gonçalves Jr., Affonso Celso; Muller, Sidnei Francisco.
The increased demand for better quality products have affected significantly the form of crop production and marketing of vegetables. Advances in organic agriculture base have collaborated in discussion of more sustainable forms of production, in line with the environmental, economically viable and socially just. The present study had the objective to assess seven production systems vegetable crops in organic farming in western Paraná-Brazil. The properties are part of project reference IAPAR networks, where they search for the systemic approach through concrete examples and a partnership between research, extension and farmer. Social indicators, economic and environmental impacts have been collected through interviews with the families concerned and...

Generation of waste from swine in the western Region of Parana: a case of unsustainability Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Hack, Elaine Cristina; Saturnino, Patrícia Moretti Franco da Cruz; Meinerz, Cristiane Claudia; Nacke, Herbert; Assi, Lindomar; Gonçalves Jr., Affonso Celso.
In Parana (Brazil), pork production has been present since the beginning of colonization of the state, especially in the West, where it was just a subsistence activity for families and subsequently has become a source of family income. In the microregion of Entre Rios do Oeste, the main economic activity is agriculture, with a concentration on the production of 916.66 swines/km2 , but  an increase of over 50% in the activity is estimated for 2012. However, like any other human activities, hog interacts with the environment, which creates great concerns from the environmental point of view, because this is one of the agricultural activities with the largest polluting potential due to the volume of waste produced and its composition. With high concentrations...

Post treatment of domestic sewage with Spirodela polyrhiza macrophytes Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Schiller, Andreia da Paz; Schwantes, Daniel; Gonçalves Jr., Affonso Celso; Somavilla, Eduardo; Manfrin, Jéssica; Campagnolo, Marcelo Ângelo.
Wastewater treatment systems for domestic effluents have high efficiency for removal of solids concentrations, COD, BOD and other organic compounds, however, are customarily deficient for removal of nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. Aquatic plants can be used in wastewater treatment plants, especially with regard to the post-treatment of effluents, in order to removal nutrients and other parameters not previously remedied. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of post-treatment wastewater by aquatic macrophyte Spirodela polyrhiza, still an understudied plant for this purpose. The experiment was carried out between March and May of 2016, for 42 days at Toledo-PR. To this purpose, 250 liters of post-treated wastewater were...

Quantification of potentially toxic elements in different soybean and corn cultivars commercialized in the Northwest of Paraná Sci. Agrar.Paran. / SAP
Massocatto, Cristina Lorena; Diniz, Kristiany Moreira; Bolson, Jaqueline Fonseca; Gonçalves Jr., Affonso Celso; Dragunski, Douglas Cardoso.
Soybean and corn are crops that are among the most planted in the northwest of Paraná, in this way, a study of some micronutrients that are essential for the growth of these plants is necessary, because even in small quantities, are considered essential elements for development of these plants and also to the health of human beings. Therefore, this study had the purpose of quantifying Fe, Cu, Zn, Cr, Mn, Ni, Na and Pb within different soybean and corn cultivars commercialized in the northwest of the state of Paraná. Samples were obtained from the Cooperativa Agropecuária Goioerê (COAGEL) – located in the city of Umuarama, northwest of Paraná. Thirty-six cultivars of corn and fourteen of soybean were analyzed. First, samples were dried at 100ºC, grinded and...
